BACKGROUNDI
The Tuulamaa International Civic Organization (TICO) is a globally recognized civic organization dedicated to the restoration and empowerment of the native Tuulamaa Oromo people. For over two centuries, this community has faced life-threatening challenges due to the policies of the Abyssinian Empire and the neglectful governance of the Ethiopian state. The historical struggle of the Tuulamaa Oromo people caught between the assimilative cultural practices of the Habesha and the political frameworks of Ethiopia, has profoundly impacted their social, cultural, economic, and political conditions. This long-standing marginalization has now reached a critical point, jeopardizing their survival and existence in numerous respects.... Our purpose-driven organization, TICO, provides visionary guidance to the Tuulamaa Oromo people through mission-oriented projects. These initiatives concentrate on community networking, empowerment, cultural restoration, the establishment of a systematic rehabilitation program, and capacity-building services. Our objective is to enhance the effectiveness of the Tuulamaa Oromo by equipping them with the essential knowledge and tools necessary for active engagement in social reintegration, as well as political and economic development
